In His Eyes Art Gallery

From the Author:

"Having ClaraLee Esther as the illustrator for this book was a gift from God.  I first heard about her through a mutual friend and it only took one meeting between us to know we were meant to work on this book together.  Her portfolio was incredible and her heart for God was amazingly evident.  ClaraLee drew all of the illustrations in just six weeks, a remarkable feat considering I had three years to write all of the material.  Through the late nights and long conversations about what would be appropriate for each poem, ClaraLee became more than a illustrator to me, she became my friend.  As a friend, I have promised her more than six weeks for the next book.

When all was written and printed, there were eighty-five illustrations for "In His Eyes".  These are eight of them."

"Study of a Portrait"

This picture was based off an artist's comment I overheard and an experience I had around the same time.  The picture invites the viewer in to find out what is on the canvas for themselves.

"Tapping Time"

My friends recognize these as my feet because I often stand this way.  My feet indeed, were the model for this illustration and ClaraLee did a beautiful job of drawing them with style.

"Vision"

This poem is about possibility and the daring soul who is willing to let the eyes see more than is visible and the ears hear more than is audible.  It is about seeing the vision of God and making it your own.

"I Give You the Daffodils"

This poem was one of the first written for the second book and I almost didn't include it, but my editors loved it, it was their favorite one.  ClaraLee drew two different pictures to choose from and we included both.

"Everlasting Words"

The transformation butterflies go through is a lot like our spiritual journey.  We used a photograph from a magazine as a base for this butterfly.

"Value of Naught"

One time when I felt like "nothing", God told me how even nothing is something.  This poem and illustration was based off of the answer He gave to me that day.

"Transformations"

One thing that captured both ClaraLee's and my imaginations was the idea of tiny pieces of glass being brought together to form a beautiful window for God's light to shine through.  It reminded us of how we are to be as a community.

"Zucchini"

ClaraLee used some of the zucchini from my garden for this picture, some of them were all the way up to my knees!  It is amazing what fruit (and vegetables!) can come from our tiny mustard seeds of faith.
